Health Promotion Clinics Prevention is a important part of health care. Ill health is more common in smokers, those who have high blood pressure, stress and those who are overweight. Our practice nurses will provide advise and help on all these issues. The following clinics are available by appointment with the practice nurses: Asthma Smoking Cessation Weight Reduction Hypertension Heart Disease Prevention Diabetes Well Person Clinic Travel Advice/ Immunisation Minor Surgery Dr Tankel has a special interest in minor surgery (i.e. the removal of small lumps and bumps). He offers a service at Clarendon surgery. If you would like to avail of this service please make an appointment with a doctor. They will assess if the procedure can be done in the practice or requires a referral to the hospital. Ante-Natal Clinic Midwife lead clinics are held weekly. Please make an appointment. We usually share care of pregnant women with the hospital. Wednesday morning at Clarendon Surgery Tuesday afternoon at Trinity Medical Centre Well Baby Clinic This is held at Clarendon Surgey every Thursday 1300-1430. The doctor and health visitor are both available to offer information, advice and spport to parents. No appointment is necessary. THIS IS A WELL BABY CLINIC IF YOUR CHILD IS UNWELL PLEASE MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE A DOCTOR Contraception and Smear Tests We carry out a range of contraception services including; coil fitting, diaphragms, implants, emergency contraception, depo-provera injections and regular pill check-ups. Smears are recommended every 3 years in all women between 25 and 50 years old, and 5 yearly between 50 and 65 years old. They help prevent cervical cancer by detecting early precancerous changes. Please make an appointment with a practice nurse. Blood Tests If a doctor recommends you need blood test please make an appointment with a practice nurse or assistant practitioner. Influenza Vaccinations Flu vaccinations are recommended for everyone over 65 years and anyone with a heart condition, lung disease (asthma, COPD), diabetes or a debilitating illness. We usually carry out clinics at the end of September. Ask at reception for further information. Pneumococcal Vaccinations Vaccination are recommended for everyone over 65 years and anyone with a heart condition lung disease, diabetes and some other conditions. Ask at reception for further information. |
